The end of June brought us a unique event. A concert by one of the most outstanding Polish vocalists, Ewa Bem. It was a meeting with an artist whose unique, warm voice, stage charisma and authenticity have for years moved the hearts of audiences not only in Poland. In music circles, she has been considered the First Lady of Polish Jazz for years.
Ewa Bem’s career began with the band Bemibek, a highly original formation that revolutionized the Polish music scene in the 1970s. Since then, the artist has constantly delighted and surprised, working with some of the biggest names in Polish jazz, such as Wojciech Karolak, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Jan “Ptaszyn” Wroblewski, Marek Blizinski, Henryk Miśkiewicz. Since 1987, with short breaks, he has also worked with pianist, arranger and composer Andrzej Jagodzinski, another legend of the Polish music scene.
During the concert, the program “EWA BEM – MY PIOSENKI” was presented, in which we heard both lesser-known gems from the Artist’s extensive repertoire, as well as some of her greatest hits. New arrangements by Andrzej Jagodzinski and Robert Majewski allowed us to discover these songs anew, showing their freshness and depth.
Her performance was a true musical feast and also beautiful proof that true art does not pass away, but only matures with time.
