FEBRUARY – THE MONTH OF VERTIGO’S 11TH BIRTHDAY

This is our favorite month of the year. A time when we celebrate Vertigo’s next birthday with pride and emotion. This year it’s been 11 years of shared meetings, emotions, music and stories that we create together with you.

Eleven years is not just a number. It’s the thousands of conversations around the tables, the hundreds of events, the countless evenings that began innocently enough and ended as those “not to be forgotten.” It’s the people, the regulars, the casual visitors, the artists, the friends who make Vertigo more than a place. It’s the atmosphere, energy and memories that stay for a long time.

And that’s why we ask ourselves the same question every year: should birthdays really only last one day?

Definitely not with us.

At Vertigo, celebration doesn’t fit into a single date on the calendar. One night is not enough to accommodate all the gratitude, joy and good energy we want to share with you. That’s why our tradition is simple. We celebrate the way we like best: long, intense and in the best company,” says Piotr Karwat, Artistic Director.

JAZZPOSPOLITA – KOSMOPOLIS

To kick off the celebration of our birthday, Jazzpospolita will present material from its latest album Kosmopolis on February 15. This is an encounter with a sound that for years has eluded patterns and clear definitions. Since the beginning of its artistic path, Jazzpospolita has been working against fads, associations and genre frameworks, creating an authorial space where jazz meets rock, ambient, minimalism and a modern form of improvisation. Live music at Vertigo will allow you to fully experience this diversity, energy and sensitivity.

Jazzpospolita’s work is difficult to encapsulate in a single label. They are open compositions built from harmonies, dynamics and melodies that evolve live depending on the moment and mood. Vertigo will feature live music that combines jazz sensibility with modern thinking about form, giving the audience space for attentive listening and their own interpretations. Details: here.

Piotr Baron Quartet feat. Maria Baron

The 11th anniversary of the Vertigo club will be an opportunity to meet with the music of Piotr Baron, who this time, accompanied by Łukasz Żyta, Maciej Adamczak and Bogusław Kaczmar, will be heard in the repertoire of middle jazz. The anniversary evening will be filled with repertoire rooted in the swing and mainstream tradition, drawing in particular on the aesthetics of hard bop and jazz of the 1950s and 1960s.

Piotr Baron (tenor saxophone) one of the most outstanding Polish jazz saxophonists, valued for his exceptional musicality, deep sound and masterful improvisation. For years he has been present on the most important jazz stages. He has collaborated with many legends of the genre, creating original projects combining tradition with modernity. Charismatic leader of his own formations, composer and pedagogue. For years he has been an invariably important figure in Polish jazz.

Maria Baron, a vocalist and student of jazz vocalism, will be the guest performer, impressing with her natural stage energy, musicality and interpretive courage. She tackles challenging, non-standard rhythmic structures with equal ease, as well as being able to enchant with ascetic simplicity of expression. Her talent and sensitivity will bring fresh energy and spontaneity to the concert.

But that’s not all…

On Friday, February 20, celebrate in style with the Vertigo Swing Orchestra, culminating in a sweet moment of the evening with a birthday cake specially prepared for the occasion. On Saturday, the temperature on stage will rise even higher with the spectacular Vertigo Burlesque Show: Birthday Party with Marilyn Monroe, while Miss Stress and Red Juliette will warm up the audience and ensure a truly sensual atmosphere. And for the week’s finale, we’ll move straight to the dancing Caribbean. We will end the celebration in true Cuban style during an energetic fiesta with The Cuban Latin Jazz, full of rhythm, passion and hot sounds.

This is the week when we want to say “thank you” for your presence, for your trust, for every moment spent together. But we will do it in the only right way: with good energy, live emotions and an atmosphere that cannot be faked. Expect evenings that draw you in from the first minutes. A mood that gives all around you. Small and big surprises. Returns to memories and the creation of brand new ones. Because Vertigo’s birthday is not just our story.
It is the story of all of us.
